Everybody must own the Complete Beatles Recording Sessions by Mark Lewisohn. Also pick up a copy of Ringo's Post Cards from the Boys.

For me: "The Beatles Diary" (Vol 1. the Beatles Years & Vol. 2: Solo Years) by Barry Miles are amazingly complete. the best day-by-day accounts.
For collecting bootlegs - "the 910's Guide to the Beatles Outtakes" by Doug Sulpy and "Eight Arms to Hold You" by Chip Madinger and Mark Easter for solo material are the best I've ever come across.

The Anthology is one of the best of course, it's like my bible, hehe. I read a lot of it staight through, even though it's the kind of book you might just flip through and read a little of a few things. What can I say, it's extremely interesting, and I'm obsessed!
I also read Magical Mystery Tours by Tony Bramwell. It's a good book, and he's pretty funny and conversational. It does get into Brian Epstein and Tony's life a little too much, but it was overall a fun book to read. And it's interesting 'cause he actually knew them since 1960 and was one of their best friends.
I'm almost done reading the Authorized Biography, which is probably a must for Beatlemaniacs. And I started Paul's biography: Many Years From Now, but need to get back to it. Definitly a must.

Might I recommend Shoulda Been There? It's the ONLY documented historical novel ever written on the life of John Lennon. It was researched for over 20 years with 7 trips to Liverpool to interview John's friends, college mates, early band members, etc. The book is written as a novel, so it's a good read, but each chapter is footnoted, and at the end of each chapter, discrepancies between the various non-ficiton writers over (the incident in the chapter) are discussed in an effort to get to "the truth." Bill Harry wrote the foreword for the book. It's 795 pages and includes an encyclopedia of the historical charaters in the book with short bios of each...plus photos of Liverpool and a Scouse glossary. Check it out at ontherockbooks.com and if you're interested, write to me at kesslerjude@yahoo.com and mention Beatles Forum. I'll give you $10 off the price. Cheers! Jude

A while ago I got John by Cynthia Lennon (a DEFINITE must-have) and The Beatles Diary by Barry Miles (I think ... I'll check when I get home.). The writing is mostly in the style of day-to-day notes, and some stories, but there are tons of quotes by the boys and really gear pictures. It's pretty great, I'm in love

There's another book about the Beatles that's cool. I forgot the name of it but it like a calendar book. It tells what happened on each day plus it has great photos of them in it. If I remember the name of the book I will post it here. The title's The Beatles Chronicles.

I have Magical Mystery Tour by Tony Bramwell, and as beatlemaniac said it's really fun and I loved all the remembered conversations. The Beatle Anthology is also good but is unbiased, though, which does not fare well with a Beatle fan. I didn't like Tony Barrow's John, Paul, George, Ringo, and Me that much, but it had interesting info though. I really hated that he said Yoko Ono was the only woman John had ever really loved! That is not true, you can read Cyn's books and be awed by their love. When they were young and in college, mostly, but it was very sweet and romantic.

Recently I've read Hunter Davies. I like his way of giving information. It's consists not only of facts and dates, but also of some funny stories and Beatles' quotes and so on.
