H'lo, all...maybe you've seen my handle around; I've been online in various Beatles fora and newsgroups for about 15 years, and I'm looking for a nice forum to discuss Beatledom in general -- something a little more intelligent than, say, "beatles-l," less "F**K YOU, MAREK!" than rec.music.beatles....
Anyhoo....I live on the north side of Chicago...don't have a favorite Beatles album or Beatles song (too many good ones to pick from)...but...favorite post-Beatles Beatle album -- Ram. Least favorite post-Beatles Beatle song -- "Mrs. Vanderbilt." (ack ack ack ack ack!!!!) Favorite Beatles authors: Lewisohn, Spizer. Do I believe Yoko broke up the Beatles? No, not at all, they were on their way to a breakup anyway, and John's just enough to "blame" if you want to blame Yoko because he insisted that she be there at all times. My nomination for "fifth Beatle?" George Martin, easily.
I'm also an amateur musician, somewhat competent with a guitar (been playing for 19 years), I enjoy bass, I play piano to a lesser extent. I'm currently taking a class in Chicago at the famous Old Town School of Folk Music...the name of the class: "Beatles Ensemble." In a nutshell, the syllabus is: come to class with an instrument and play Beatles tunes! (Right now, we're focusing on The Rutles!)
Anyway...I'm 32, happily married to another fan, will be at Beatlefest next weekend (and if you want to get together and jam Saturday or Sunday, pm me!), and also a fan of Brian Wilson, The Byrds, Wondermints, and classic Atari games....I use the name "dauber" because ever since I was in college, people have told me that I look like "that guy from Coach;" real name's Sean.
