i heard 2 different stories:
she was hit by a drunk off-duty policeman
&
she was hit by a policeman speeding, late for work.
both are horrible.. and ironic stories. which is correct?

i think the drunk off-duty policeman did. that's what i've heard/read numerous tiimes. "Julia was struck by a car driven by a drunken off-duty police officer, called Eric Clague, who was a learner-driver. When taken to court, the officer was acquitted of all charges and given a short suspension from duty. Julia was buried in the Allerton Cemetery, in Liverpool. Her gravesite is unmarked, and over the years its location was forgotten until it was recently identified by her daughter Jackie as "CE (Church of England) 38-805"." - from wiki

i just heard she was with one of John's friends, Nigel, and he dropped her off near the end of the road and said by, walked away, and the next thing he saw was Julia's body flying in the air! John was never the same again.

This is how I have always understood it : Julia died in 1958, when John was still 17 and was hit by an off-duty drunken police officer. I just watched The US vs John Lennon but they're wrong, read Julia Baird's book (John's own sister wouldn't lie) or Cyn's book.
