theres a movie called The Rutles All You Need is Cash, it obviously spoofs beatles but i've never seen it. I think Rutles were originally a skit on saturday night live or something but have never seen anything with them, i just saw it on Wikipedia once.
Have any of you seen the movie or anything?

yeah on wikipedia i read about how Nasty (john) made a comment about how the Rutles were better than Rod, as in Rod Stewart. which caused a riot because a deaf reporter thought he said God.
i chuckled at it.. haha

The Rutles were a brain child of Monty Python's Eric Idle and friend Neil Innes. After Python ended the Flying Circus, Idle had a show in the BBC called Rutland TV. The Rutles were a genius spoof of the Beatles. They had a few moments on SNL in 1977 and a made for TV movie called All You Need is Cash with a cameo by Rutles supporter GEORGE HARRISON. The songs are devilishly clever and there was a sequel released in 1995 called Archeology, a play on The Anthology. It's very British humor and wonderfully funny. The Beatles have all given their blessings to the project. The cast is Ron Nasty, Dirk McQuickly, Stig O'Hara, and Barry Wom. They parody everything from Hamburg with friend Astro Glide (astrid kirshner) all the way up to the Paul is dead hoax. Ron marries an artist named Chastity who wears a Nazi uniform (yoko) . It's really funny. Eric Idle did the comedy writing and Neil Innes wrote all the songs. Neil Innes is actually directly tied to The Beatles. He was in a band in the mid 60's in England called the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band. They are the band seen performing at the end of Magical Mystery Tour. Plus Paul actually produced the bands first single 'Urban Spaceman' under the pseudonym Apollo C. Vermouth in the summer of 1967.

well, this is funny
The Rutles Story
On January 21, 1959 the Rutles story began at 43 Egg Lane, Liverpool, where Ron Nasty and Dirk McQuickly first bumped into each other. Ron invited Dirk to help him stand up. Dirk, merely an ameteur drinker, agreed and on that spot a legend was created, a legend that will last a lunchtime. They were soon to be joined by Stig O'Hara, a guitarist of no fixed hairstyle, but it would be another two years before they found their regular drummer, Barrington Womble, hiding in the van. When they did, they persuaded him to change his name to save time and his haircut to save Brylcreem. He became simply Barry Wom...
yeah, you could say that they were a bit funny but their photos creep me out

The Rutles Rule!! George was a huge fan of Monty Python and also stars in the Rutles movie as a reporter. The Rutles started the Mockumentary medium and I highly recommend their music. Neil Innes was the brain child behind the tunes. Very very cool stuff! I have their music soundtrack and their Archaeology CD they released in 1996.
The Beatles were all approached for comment on the project. George of course was already on board. Ringo liked it but was upset by the stuff that hit close to home. Paul was no comment and wouldn't say either way. John was sent an advance film and the soundtrack and was supposed to return it, but never did. His only comment was better be careful with that song Get Up and Go as it sounds too much like Get Back and they may get Sued by Paul. LOL!

The movie is so funny!! It really does a good job spoofing the Fabs. John Belushi, Bill Murray, Dan Akroyd, Gilda Radnor, Lorne Michaels, Neil Innes, Eric Idle, George Harrison, Paul Simon, Mick Jagger, are all in the movie. Its like Monty Python meets SNL.
